Transforma Unveils Its New Season at Catharsis Gallery in Almaty
«Трансформа» представила новый сезон в галерее Catharsis в Алматы
On September 9, the cultural space Transforma brought together members of the media and its partners for an intimate presentation of its new season at the multimedia art gallery Catharsis in Almaty. The evening offered guests a first look at the projects set to shape the coming months, while also providing an opportunity to meet and speak with the Transforma team.
9 сентября культурное пространство «Трансформа» собрало представителей СМИ и медиапартнёров на камерной презентации нового сезона в мультимедийной арт-галерее Catharsis в Алматы. Вечер позволил гостям первыми узнать о проектах, которые войдут в афишу ближайших месяцев, а также лично пообщаться с командой «Трансформы».
The choice of Catharsis as the setting for the presentation was particularly fitting. Rather than following the format of a traditional press conference, the event unfolded within an immersive multimedia environment, allowing guests to experience the atmosphere in which one of Transforma’s upcoming productions will soon come to life.
Выбор Catharsis для презентации оказался особенно символичным. Вместо традиционного формата пресс-конференции встреча прошла непосредственно в иммерсивном мультимедийном пространстве, позволив гостям почувствовать атмосферу, в которой совсем скоро оживёт одна из новых постановок «Трансформы».
During the evening, the team introduced the key directions of the new season and shared details of the projects that audiences will be able to discover in the coming months. Guests were also treated to a teaser of The Canterville Ghost, offering a first glimpse of the immersive production ahead of its premiere at Catharsis on September 18, 19 and 20.
В течение вечера команда представила основные направления нового сезона и рассказала о проектах, с которыми зрители познакомятся в ближайшие месяцы. Одним из центральных моментов стал тизер спектакля «Кентервильское привидение» — возможность впервые заглянуть в мир новой иммерсивной постановки до её премьеры в Catharsis 18, 19 и 20 сентября.
The Canterville Ghost: When the Audience Becomes Part of the Story
«Кентервильское привидение»: когда зритель становится частью истории
At the heart of the upcoming production is the story of an old castle haunted by a malevolent ghost — the spirit of a murderer who has terrorised its inhabitants for centuries. Everything changes when a modern family arrives at the castle. Their scepticism and complete lack of fear unsettle the ghost, turning the encounter into an unexpected and at times comical confrontation.
В центре предстоящей постановки — история старого замка, где обитает злобное привидение — дух убийцы, веками терроризировавший его жителей. Всё меняется, когда в замок приезжает современная семья. Их скептицизм и полное отсутствие страха выводят призрака из равновесия, превращая встречу в неожиданное и местами комичное противостояние.
Yet beneath the humour lies a much darker mystery. Virginia, the family’s youngest daughter, becomes the only person capable of looking beyond the frightening legend and delving into the castle’s past. As she uncovers its secrets, it becomes clear that what happened there long ago may have consequences for the lives of those who have entered the house today.

Вирджиния, младшая дочь в семье, оказывается единственной, кто способен заглянуть за пределы пугающей легенды и проникнуть в тёмное прошлое замка. Постепенно она раскрывает секреты, от которых могут зависеть жизни тех, кто оказался здесь сегодня.
What makes The Canterville Ghost particularly intriguing is its format. This is not a conventional performance in which the audience remains seated while the story unfolds on stage. Instead, it has been conceived as an immersive journey through the unique spaces of Catharsis.
Особый интерес представляет формат «Кентервильского привидения». Это не традиционный спектакль, где зритель остаётся в кресле, пока действие разворачивается на сцене. Постановка задумана как настоящее иммерсивное путешествие по уникальным пространствам Catharsis.
Scenes will take place in different locations throughout the multimedia gallery, with the audience moving from one space to another alongside the actors. Following the characters through the gallery, spectators will gradually become witnesses to the unfolding mystery — experiencing the story from within rather than simply observing it from a distance.
Сцены будут разворачиваться в разных локациях мультимедийной галереи, а зрители станут перемещаться по пространству вслед за актёрами. Следуя за героями из одной локации в другую, публика постепенно окажется внутри разворачивающейся тайны — не просто наблюдая историю со стороны, а становясь её непосредственным свидетелем.
The September 9 media presentation therefore became more than an introduction to Transforma’s new season. It offered a glimpse into the project’s approach to contemporary theatre — one where performance, space, multimedia art and audience participation can merge into a single experience.

The premiere of The Canterville Ghost will take place on September 18, 19 and 20 at Catharsis multimedia art gallery, located at 122A Abylai Khan Avenue in Almaty.
