Ceramic Art Fair + Glass 2026:

by Aytan Mouradova

From October 20 to 25, 2026, the Maison de l’Amérique latine in Paris hosts the second edition of Ceramic Art Fair + Glass, a fair dedicated entirely to ceramics and glass. Taking place during Paris Art Week, the event brings together galleries, artists, collectors and experts around two materials that are increasingly claiming their place within contemporary art and major international collections.

Pioneering in its field in France, Ceramic Art Fair was created to move ceramics beyond the conventional boundaries of craft and decorative art. For its second edition, the fair expands its perspective to glass, bringing together two “arts of fire” united by transformation, technical mastery and the almost alchemical relationship between artist and material.

The fair’s understanding of “modern” is deliberately broad. It is not defined simply by date, but by originality, experimentation and innovation. Historic pieces can therefore enter into dialogue with contemporary works, while emerging artists appear alongside established names. What matters is not when an object was created, but the creative freedom and artistic vision behind it.

Set within the elegant interiors and garden of the Maison de l’Amérique latine in Paris’s 7th arrondissement, the fair creates an environment where ceramics and glass can be viewed not simply as decorative objects but as sculpture, conceptual art and collectible design. The event is reserved exclusively for art ceramics and art glass rather than utilitarian objects, reinforcing its focus on artistic expression.

A carefully selected international programme places craftsmanship at the heart of contemporary artistic practice. The fair brings together galleries and artists united by an interest in material, form and experimentation, while an expert committee of curators, gallerists, journalists and architects contributes to the curatorial direction of the event.

The programme extends beyond the exhibition itself. Talks and discussions explore subjects ranging from the history of the Manufacture de Sèvres to contemporary Korean and Taiwanese ceramics, Armenian ceramic traditions, glass heritage and the relationship between new technologies and artistic creation. One of the final talks even turns to artificial intelligence and the possibilities it creates for artists working together remotely.

Among the guests of honour is French ceramist Kristin McKirdy, presented in a retrospective by Jousse Entreprise, while French glass artist Xavier Le Normand creates an installation for the grand staircase. The garden also becomes part of the exhibition route, with monumental works by Belgian glass artist and sculptor Lila Farget and French ceramist Mathilde Sauce.

Another highlight is the Objet du Désir award. A jury of figures from art, design, architecture, fashion and collecting selects works that have particularly captured their attention. Rather than searching for a single definition of excellence, the project highlights different personal perspectives on historic, modern and contemporary ceramics and glass.

The timing is no coincidence. Held at the heart of Paris Art Week, Ceramic Art Fair + Glass enters into dialogue with one of the busiest moments on the international art calendar. Yet its deliberately focused identity allows visitors to slow down and look more closely at materials that have accompanied civilisation for centuries and continue to offer artists seemingly limitless possibilities.

Clay and glass are among humanity’s oldest creative materials, yet in Paris they appear anything but nostalgic. In the hands of today’s artists, fire, earth and transparency become a language for sculpture, abstraction, experimentation and contemporary ideas. Ceramic Art Fair + Glass demonstrates that the future of these ancient materials may be every bit as fascinating as their past.
