Ce qui se trame. Stories woven between India and France
From December 4, 2025 to January 4, 2026, the Manufactures nationales – Sèvres & Mobilier national invite visitors to discover a vibrant dialogue between two cultures through the art of textiles. The exhibition highlights sumptuous, handcrafted creations and savoir-faire passed down through generations, offering a journey into the artistic and human exchanges linking India and France.

С 4 декабря 2025 года по 4 января 2026 года Manufactures nationales – Sèvres & Mobilier national приглашают зрителей открыть для себя живой диалог двух культур через искусство текстиля. Экспозиция представляет роскошные произведения ручной работы и ремесленные традиции, передающиеся из поколения в поколение, погружая в историю художественных и человеческих связей между Индией и Францией.

At the heart of creative exchanges between India and France, the exhibition reveals how the threads of these two cultures have intertwined, influenced one another, and inspired artists and artisans over centuries, right up to contemporary creation.
Through the prism of textile art, the show explores a shared history shaped by mutual curiosity and cultural dialogue.

В центре творческого обмена между Индией и Францией выставка показывает, как на протяжении веков нити двух культур переплетались, взаимно влияли друг на друга и вдохновляли художников и ремесленников вплоть до наших дней.

Sumptuous fabrics, handwoven and embroidered, testify to exceptional skills transmitted from generation to generation.
Standing in contrast to an all-digital world, these works celebrate the beauty of the gesture, the material itself, and the time required to create them.

From the palaces of 17th-century India to the haute couture runways of 2025, each piece tells a story of exchange, encounter, and innovation.
Through a diversity of techniques, the exhibition reveals the vitality of Indian and French artisanal traditions, capable of transforming inherited knowledge into a living and ever-evolving source of inspiration.

The exhibition unfolds across seven visual chapters, where works engage in dialogue through form, material, and meaning.
Special attention is given to creations resulting from the Villa Swagatam residencies, an artistic exchange program between France and India initiated by the French Embassy in India.

More than an exhibition, Ce qui se trame is an invitation to rediscover textiles as a universal language — a bridge between cultures and a medium of distinctly contemporary expression.

« Ce qui se trame » — это больше, чем выставка: это приглашение заново открыть текстиль как универсальный язык, связующее звено между культурами и форму по-настоящему современного самовыражения.

The exhibition is co-produced by the Manufactures nationales – Sèvres & Mobilier national, the Institut français, and the French Embassy in India, in collaboration with Shon Randhawa, founder of the Sutrakala Foundation.

Around the exhibition, the Institut français presents a four-day festival featuring two professional days dedicated to networking sessions and round tables, followed by two public days offering a Franco-Indian program of workshops, performances, and talks.

В рамках выставки Французский институт организует четырёхдневный фестиваль: два профессиональных дня с нетворкинг-сессиями и круглыми столами, а также два дня, открытых для широкой публики, с франко-индийской программой, включающей мастер-классы, перформансы и лекции.
