Three Days of Dubai Fashion Week SS27: From Couture to Colombian Fashion

Три дня Dubai Fashion Week SS27: от кутюра до колумбийской моды

The first three days of Dubai Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2027 brought together designers from the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Latin America, moving between couture, resort wear and experimental contemporary fashion. From October 23 to 25, the programme unfolded through contrasting creative perspectives — from the glamour of Yousef AlJasmi and handcrafted Indian couture to Ukrainian design and a dedicated Colombia Day.

С 23 по 25 октября программа развивалась через совершенно разные творческие подходы — от гламура Yousef AlJasmi и индийского кутюра ручной работы до украинского дизайна и отдельного Colombia Day.

Co-founded by Dubai Design District (d3), part of TECOM Group, and the Arab Fashion Council, Dubai Fashion Week opened its SS27 edition with a strong focus on couture. Kuwaiti designer Yousef AlJasmi made his DFW debut with a collection built around black, cream and silver, translating his signature glamour into dramatic silhouettes and elaborate detailing.

Sara Pedram followed with The Simorgh Collection, inspired by the mythical bird associated with strength and wisdom. Hand embroidery, floral motifs, painted elements and intricate embellishment shaped a highly decorative vision of couture.

Indian designer Pallavi Puri also made her official Dubai Fashion Week debut with an ambitious 50-look collection divided into three chapters. More than 150 artisans worked across over 21 traditional techniques to create embroidered and embellished pieces combining the house’s equestrian references with a new floral direction. Indian supermodel Lisa Haydon and Lebanese actress Cyrine Abdelnour appeared as the show’s special guests on the runway.

Krésha Bajaj closed another chapter of the opening programme with The Garden of Borrowed Light, created in collaboration with Alok Lodha Jewels. Fluid silhouettes, painterly florals, expressive embroidery and intricate beadwork were paired with statement coloured gemstones, bringing couture and fine jewellery into a single visual narrative.

The second day expanded the programme beyond traditional couture. Gigi Boutique presented an intimate see-now-buy-now selection of international designers at the Gigi Lounge, bringing together resort wear, contemporary pieces and statement accessories in a format combining fashion and lifestyle.

Ukrainian label KEL’, founded by Olena Kondratova, presented Genesis — a collection centred on transformation and the symbolism of the butterfly. Sculptural corsetry and architectural tailoring met lace, transparent tulle and velvet, while hand-embroidered crystals, three-dimensional appliqués, sculptural hairpieces and body jewellery blurred the line between clothing and wearable art.

Украинский бренд KEL’, основанный Оленой Кондратовой, представил коллекцию Genesis, посвящённую трансформации и символике бабочки. Скульптурные корсеты и архитектурный крой сочетались с кружевом, прозрачным тюлем и бархатом, а вышитые вручную кристаллы, объёмные аппликации, необычные украшения для волос и тела приблизили образы к wearable art.

Vietnamese label L’SCARLETT explored another interpretation of femininity with AUREA. Founder Le Nguyen worked with sculpted silhouettes, fluid skirts and architectural volumes, adding gold-toned crystals, hand embellishment and three-dimensional lily-inspired flowers.

Romance dominated GNL Couture’s Le Jardin Enchanté, where an imaginary garden emerged through hand embroidery, delicate beadwork and a palette of mint, blush pink, pistachio and ivory. Nafsika Skourti, meanwhile, shifted the mood with its Resort 2027 collection, juxtaposing bold colours, unexpected textures, florals and metallic accents.

Nafsika Skourti, напротив, сменила настроение, представив Resort 2027 с яркими цветовыми сочетаниями, неожиданными фактурами, цветочными мотивами и металлическими акцентами.

Day three turned the spotlight towards Latin America. Four Bogotá-based brands — Laura Aparicio, Adriana Capasso, ODA Store and Mónica Schuster by Sermetex — arrived at Dubai Fashion Week as part of a dedicated Colombia Day presented by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce.

На третий день внимание Dubai Fashion Week переместилось в сторону Латинской Америки. Четыре бренда из Боготы — Laura Aparicio, Adriana Capasso, ODA Store и Mónica Schuster by Sermetex — представили свои коллекции в рамках специального Colombia Day при участии Торговой палаты Боготы.

Laura Aparicio opened this chapter with NANDA, a collection rooted in Colombian identity and built around confidence, self-expression and femininity. Oversized silhouettes, sculptural forms and fluid fabrics appeared in saturated shades of yellow, red and blue.

Adriana Capasso looked to Colombia’s coffee-growing landscapes for TRACE. The textures and atmosphere of the Quindío region were translated into sculptural silhouettes, architectural volumes and intricate textile techniques, with footwear by Liza Herrera completing the runway looks.

Bogotá itself became the starting point for ODA Store’s Convergencia. Structured tailoring, layered garments and fluid forms reflected the intersections and encounters of urban life, exploring the ways in which places and people contribute to the formation of identity.

Mónica Schuster brought the Colombian programme into couture territory with ECLIPSE. Inspired by transformation, celestial imagery and feminine strength, the collection combined defined silhouettes with hand embroidery, crystal embellishment and dramatic sculptural capes, particularly in the Golden Aura and Golden Eclipse looks.

The third day concluded with FADTALENTS, marking the 10th anniversary of the FAD Institute of Luxury, Fashion & Style. More than 20 emerging designers took part in the runway presentation, experimenting with sculptural silhouettes, unconventional techniques and contemporary ready-to-wear.

Across its first three days, Dubai Fashion Week SS27 demonstrated the increasingly international character of its schedule. Kuwait, India, Ukraine, Vietnam, Jordan and Colombia appeared within the same programme, while couture craftsmanship coexisted with resort wear, emerging talent and contemporary design. Rather than following a single aesthetic direction, the season’s opening days were defined by contrast — between elaborate handwork and architectural minimalism, cultural references and global fashion language, established designers and a new generation entering the runway.
