Freedom Festival IV Returns to Astana and Almaty

The Freedom Festival IV will take place on 21 and 23 November in Astana and Almaty, uniting world stars of classical and contemporary ballet on the stages of Almaty Theatre and Astana Ballet.

Фестиваль Freedom Festival IV пройдёт 21 и 23 ноября в Астане и Алматы, объединяя мировых звёзд классического и современного балета на сценах Almaty Theatre и Astana Ballet.

The festival will open with the ballet Paquita, presented by Astana Opera under the artistic direction of Altynay Asylmuratova. In the second act, the Berlin Ballet Company will perform in Kazakhstan for the first time, presenting CHOREO X — a selection of groundbreaking choreographic works by Marco Goecke, Nacho Duato, Angelin Preljocaj, Arshak Ghalumyan and others.
Фестиваль откроется балетом «Пахита» в постановке «Астана Опера» под руководством Алтынай Асылмуратовой. Во втором отделении впервые в Казахстане выступит Berlin Ballet Company с программой CHOREO X — подборкой новаторских работ Марко Гёкке, Начо Дуато, Анжелена Прельокажа, Аршака Галумяна и других.

Ahead of the festival, a media event was held with Sergey Lukyanov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Freedom Finance Global, along with internationally acclaimed ballet stars — American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Chloe Misseldine and Staatsballett Berlin principal dancer Martin ten Kortenaar. The press conference also featured Berlin Ballet Company artistic director Arshak Ghalumyan and project producer Daniyar Shmanov.
Накануне фестиваля состоялась пресс-встреча с Председателем Совета директоров Freedom Finance Global Сергеем Лукьяновым и приглашёнными мировыми звёздами балета — прима-балериной American Ballet Theatre Хлоей Миссельдайн и премьером Staatsballett Berlin Мартином тен Кортенааром. В пресс-конференции также приняли участие художественный руководитель Berlin Ballet Company Аршак Галумян и продюсер проекта Данияр Шманов.

This year, the festival invites audiences to look at ballet differently and more broadly: Astana Opera will present the classical Paquita, accompanied by the orchestra conducted by Elmar Buribayev, while the second act will showcase the bold productions of Berlin Ballet Company. This blend of classical excellence and contemporary choreography reflects the festival’s mission to inspire, connect, and foster dialogue,” noted Sergey Lukyanov.

Такое сочетание классики и современной хореографии отражает стремление фестиваля к диалогу, вдохновению и объединению», — отметил Сергей Лукьянов.

As is tradition, the festival will be accompanied by an exhibition of contemporary art. The special guest of this year’s edition is Aziza Shaden, a renowned artist representing Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the international art scene. She will present a video installation created with the support of the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, which premiered at the Bukhara Biennale. This work will be shown in Kazakhstan for the first time.
По традиции фестиваль сопровождается выставкой современного искусства. Специальной гостьей станет Азиза Шаден — известная художница, представляющая Казахстан и Узбекистан на международной арт-сцене. Она представит видео-инсталляцию, созданную при поддержке Фонда развития культуры и искусства Узбекистана, премьера которой состоялась на Бухарской Биеннале. Эта работа впервые будет показана в Казахстане.
