The Grand Palais in Paris opens its doors to an exhibition that celebrates one of the most electrifying artistic collaborations of the 20th century. From June 26, 2025, to January 10, 2026, visitors are invited to step into the vibrant, radical world of Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely, illuminated through the visionary perspective of Pontus Hulten.

This immersive exhibition unveils the fierce passion and boundless creativity that united these groundbreaking artists and the curator who championed their vision. Known for their rebellious spirit, Saint Phalle (1930–2002) and Tinguely (1925–1991) forged an artistic partnership rooted in freedom, experimentation, and a refusal to conform.

The exhibition traces their prolific journeys through the influential figure of Pontus Hulten (1924–2006), the first director of the Musée national d’Art moderne at the Centre Pompidou. A firm believer in disruptive, multidisciplinary, and participatory art, Hulten became a lifelong supporter of both artists. His commitment manifested in acquisitions, retrospectives, creative carte blanche invitations, and his role in ambitious, rule-breaking projects—including the monumental Hon – en Katedral (1966) at Stockholm's Moderna Museet and Le Crocrodrome de Zig & Puce (1977) at the Centre Pompidou.

Through a dynamic, interactive narrative, visitors explore a universe where art intertwines with love, friendship, and artistic boldness—brought to life by a curator whose devotion transformed both their careers and the trajectory of contemporary art.
