“What Ballet Keeps Silent About” is the premiere of a ballet that opens up boundaries and allows the viewer to look behind the scenes of great art

“О чем молчит балет”- премьера балета, который открывает границы и позволяет зрителю заглянуть в закулисье великого искусства

On June 25, at the end of the 57th theatrical season, the State Academic Dance Theater of the Republic of Kazakhstan will present the premiere of a one-act modern ballet “What Ballet Keeps Silent About” on the stage of Almaty Theater — a bold and original look from the inside at the world hidden behind the scenes. Choreography by Oleg Ignatyev and the immortal music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky promise the viewer a frank, ironic and touching story about the life of ballet dancers — such as it is, beyond the framework of stage brilliance.

25 июня, к завершению 57-го театрального сезона, на сцене Almaty Theatre Государственный академический театр танца Республики Казахстан представит премьеру одноактного современного балета «О чем молчит балет» — смелый и самобытный взгляд изнутри на мир, скрытый за кулисами. Хореография Олега Игнатьева и бессмертная музыка Петра Ильича Чайковского обещают зрителю откровенный, ироничный и трогательный рассказ о жизни артистов балета — такой, какой она есть, вне рамок сценического блеска.

Ballet, as an art, is always associated with beauty, discipline and movement honed to perfection. But what remains behind the scenes? How does an artist live outside the framework of a performance? What joys and contradictions are born behind the scenes? Oleg Ignatyev, who grew up in a ballet environment, knows the answers to these questions for sure — and turns his personal experience into an expressive stage language: “There is a wonderful film, “Work Without Authorship,” it is about finding yourself in art and the main message of the film is that your art should be a part of you. Since I grew up in a ballet family and was behind the scenes from birth, and later on stage as an artist, it gave me the idea that ballet theater is a whole world that I know better than myself, and they try to show it to the viewer through small and insincere videos on social networks, and about the ballet backstage you need to talk about it in a completely different language.”

Балет, как искусство, всегда ассоциируется с красотой, дисциплиной и отточенным до совершенства движением. Но что остается за кулисами? Чем живёт артист вне рамок спектакля? Какие радости и противоречия рождаются в закулисье? Олег Игнатьев, сам выросший в балетной среде, точно знает ответы на эти вопросы — и превращает личный опыт в выразительный сценический язык- “Есть прекрасный фильм «Работа без авторства» , он про поиск себя в искусстве и главный месседж фильма, что твое искусство должно быть частью тебя. Так как я вырос в балетной семье и с самого рождения находился за кулисами, а в последствии и на сцене как артист, натолкнули меня на мысль что балетный театр это целый мир который я знаю лучше чем самого себя , а зрителю пытаются показать его через маленькие и не искренние видео в соц сетях, а про балетное закулисье нужно рассказывать совсем другим языком. ”

“What Ballet Keeps Silent About” is not just a performance. It is a confession, observation and research at the same time. The viewer will find a witty, sometimes dramatic, but always lively chronicle of theatrical everyday life, where self-irony, conflict, inspiration and fatigue coexist. Genre boundaries are erased: this is a comedy, a drama, a tragedy - everything, just like in real life. The choreography, staged by Oleg Ignatyev, is not much different from the classical elements of ballet, but the ballet still has its own style and rhythm - many elements are performed in the neoclassical style.

«О чем молчит балет» — это не просто спектакль. Это исповедь, наблюдение и исследование одновременно. Зрителя ждёт остроумная, местами драматичная, но всегда живая хроника театральной повседневности, где соседствуют самоирония, конфликт, вдохновение и усталость. Жанровые границы стираются: это и комедия, и драма, и трагедия —все, как в настоящей жизни.Хореография, поставленная Олегом Игнатьевым не многим отличается от классических элементов балета, но все же свой почерк и ритм у балета присутствует- многие элементы выполняются в стиле неоклассик.

The most ballet of composers was chosen for the musical accompaniment - Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. His melodies are organically woven into the new choreography, where the classics are enriched with modern elements, creating a bright, multi-layered dance canvas. The staging process is already in its active stage: the artists are mastering unusual movements, adapting to fresh rhythms and the emotional density of the performance. According to the choreographer, they will approach the premiere not just ready - but inspired. "What Ballet Keeps Silent About" is a performance for everyone who wants to look behind the scenes not with the eyes of the camera, but with their heart and feelings. This is a chance to see ballet as the artists themselves know it — sincere, alive and real.

Для музыкального сопровождения был выбран самый балетный из композиторов — Петр Ильич Чайковский. Его мелодии органично вплетаются в новую хореографию, где классика обогащается современными элементами, создавая яркое, многослойное танцевальное полотно. Процесс постановки уже в активной стадии: артисты осваивают необычные движения, адаптируются к свежим ритмам и эмоциональной плотности спектакля. По словам хореографа, к премьере они подойдут не просто готовыми — а вдохновлёнными. «О чем молчит балет» — это спектакль для всех, кто хочет заглянуть за кулисы не глазами камеры, а сердцем и чувствами. Это шанс увидеть балет таким, каким его знают сами артисты — искренним, живым и настоящим.

"Working with Oleg Ignatiev is not just a collaboration, it is a real creative experiment, expanding the boundaries of our usual repertoire. It is a search for a new language, new forms. When I voiced the idea of the upcoming performance to the artists, their response was incredible — they were sincerely inspired. After all, if earlier they embodied classical images and heroes of familiar productions on stage, now they themselves have become the main characters. This performance is about them, about life behind the scenes, about the subtle human relationships that are born in a ballet troupe offstage. This is a completely different genre, which we are encountering for the first time, and this is what makes the process incredibly exciting. The choreography also goes beyond the classical canons, and therefore requires from the artists not only professionalism, but also internal openness, readiness for experimentation. We approach the premiere with excitement and trepidation. I am sure that the finale of our theatre season will be a real event and will truly surprise the audience - with the new, sincere and lively that we are ready to give them."

«Работа с Олегом Игнатьевым это не просто сотрудничество, это настоящий творческий эксперимент, расширение границ нашего привычного репертуара. Это поиск нового языка, новых форм. Когда я озвучила артистам идею предстоящего спектакля, их отклик был невероятным — они искренне воодушевились. Ведь если раньше они воплощали на сцене классические образы и героев знакомых постановок, то теперь — они сами стали главными персонажами. Этот спектакль — о них, о жизни за кулисами, о тонких человеческих отношениях, рождающихся в балетной труппе вне сцены.
