The State Academic Dance Theatre of Kazakhstan opens its 58th season with tours in Taraz and Shymkent

The State Academic Dance Theatre of the Republic of Kazakhstan, founded by the great master of world ballet art Bulat Ayukhanov, opens a new, 58th theatrical season in motion. The ballet troupe is going on a tour of Kazakhstan, where two legendary masterpieces of world choreography will meet on one stage - Swan Lake by P. I. Tchaikovsky and Carmen Suite by G. Bizet - R. Shchedrin.

Государственный академический театр танца Республики Казахстан, основанный великим мэтром мирового балетного искусства Булатом Аюхановым, открывает новый, 58-й театральный сезон в движении. Балетная труппа отправляется в гастрольный тур по Казахстану, где на одной сцене встретятся два легендарных шедевра мировой хореографии — «Лебединое озеро» П. И. Чайковского и «Кармен-сюита» Ж. Бизе – Р. Щедрина.

On September 26, the ballet company will perform at the “Turkestan Saraiy” Concert Hall in Shymkent, and on September 28, the performance will take place at the “Balasagun” Palace of Culture in Taraz.

26 сентября в г. Шымкент балетная труппа выступит на сцене Концертного зала “Туркестан сарайы”, а 28 сентября в г. Тараз выступление пройдет во Дворце Культуры “Баласагун”.

The immortal classic Swan Lake by Pyotr Tchaikovsky has been performed on world stages for centuries and remains a masterpiece of ballet art, filling theaters across the globe. It was the composer’s first ballet, premiering in March 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Inspired by folklore motifs and an old German legend about Princess Odette, transformed into a swan by the evil sorcerer Rothbart, the story embodies both magic and tragedy.

Бессмертная классика мирового балета «Лебединое озеро» на музыку П. И. Чайковского идет на мировых сценах уже несколько веков и до сих пор остается шедевром искусства, собирая полные залы. Это первый балет Чайковского, премьера которого состоялась в марте 1877 года на сцене Большого театра в Москве. Сюжет основан на старинной немецкой легенде о прекрасной принцессе Одетте, превращенной в лебедя злым колдуном Ротбартом.

The ballet found its second life in 1895 in St. Petersburg, when choreographers Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov reimagined it in memory of Tchaikovsky, creating the legendary “swan scenes” — pictures of enchanted beauty and poetic sorrow.

Второе рождение балета произошло в 1895 году в Петербурге, когда гении Императорских театров Мариус Петипа и Лев Иванов создали знаменитые «лебединые сцены» — картины, полные красоты и поэтической грусти, в память о великом композиторе.

Bulat Ayukhanov first staged his own interpretation of Swan Lake in 1967 for his graduating class at the Almaty Choreographic School, even performing one of the leading roles himself. Later, the production became part of the repertoire of the “Young Ballet of Almaty” and, by 2000, a jewel of the State Academic Dance Theatre. Ayukhanov’s version is notable for its tragic ending, where evil triumphs over good, leaving the audience to reflect on the fate of the characters and the complexity of human choices.

В авторской интерпретации Булата Аюханова балет впервые был поставлен в 1967 году для выпускного класса Алматинского хореографического училища, где сам маэстро исполнил одну из партий. Постановка вошла в репертуар «Молодого балета Алма-Аты» и в 2000 году стала жемчужиной афиши Государственного академического театра танца. Особенностью версии Аюханова является трагическая развязка, где зло побеждает добро, заставляя зрителя задуматься о судьбе героев и природе человеческих поступков.

“This is bold art, where artistic interpretation has the right to alter the course of events and evoke deep emotions in the audience,” says Gulphida Gafurova, the theatre’s chief choreographer and Honored Worker of Kazakhstan.

«Это смелое искусство, где художественная интерпретация оставляет за собой право изменить ход событий и вызвать глубокие эмоции у зрителей», — говорит главный балетмейстер театра, Заслуженный деятель РК Гульфида Гафурова.

The evening will also feature the one-act ballet Carmen Suite, based on Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen. The story follows the tragic fate of the gypsy Carmen and the soldier José, who loses her love to a young toreador. Their doomed relationship, culminating in Carmen’s death at José’s hand, is underscored by destiny itself.

Вторым действием пройдет показ одноактного балета «Кармен-сюита» — хореографической версии знаменитой оперы Жоржа Бизе «Кармен». В центре сюжета — трагическая судьба цыганки Кармен и солдата Хозе, которого она покидает ради молодого Тореадора. Их отношения и гибель Кармен от руки Хозе предопределены Роком.

Ayukhanov, who was personally acquainted with the legendary Maya Plisetskaya, created his own interpretation of the story in admiration of classical music and her artistry, adding depth to the dramatic narrative.

Булат Аюханов, лично знакомый с легендой мирового балета Маей Плисецкой, создал собственную редакцию сюжета, выражая любовь к классической музыке и восхищение её искусством.

The leading roles will be performed by the soloists of the “Young Ballet of Almaty”: Ainur Mukasheva, Aya Melis, Zhanat Taykenov, Elaman Tiyshtykbay, Aliya Kurabaeva, Aruzhan Bektalieva, Damir Tlesbaev, Symbat Maksut, Aisha Kaspakbaeva, Minami Watanabe, Asylbek Ismail, and Diyar Akenov.
