Marie Adam-Leenaerdt: Fashion with a Second Skin – Rethinking Sustainability

Marie Adam-Leenaerdt: Fashion with a Second Skin – Rethinking Sustainability

Marie Adam-Leenaerdt’s Fall/Winter 2025-2026 collection introduced wire-embedded dresses and a fresh take on versatility, staged inside a home furnishings gallery. The designer’s goal was clear: slow fashion down and give each piece the power to transform, extending its life beyond a single season.

The show unfolded in two parts. First came sculptural gray wool coats and dresses, evoking strength and quiet minimalism. Then the twist: slipcovers that completely changed the garments — leopard shells, glossy blue skirts, and trompe-l’œil coats that nodded to Coco Chanel.

Adam-Leenaerdt admitted that the concept of “two-in-one” garments may challenge retailers but insisted it is the future of responsible fashion. A major New York brand has already embraced a similar idea this season.

Beyond slipcovers, sweaters morphed from turtlenecks to v-necks, and dresses shifted volume with hidden hoops. “Versatility is crucial today,” the designer said, “it gives value and relevance to every piece.”

With quiet innovation and a solution-driven approach, Adam-Leenaerdt shows that sustainability and creativity can coexist — inspiring us to buy fewer pieces, but love them longer.
