"I feel like a nomad myself": Andy Serkis answered fans' questions during Comic Con Astana

«Я сам чувствую себя номадом»: Энди Серкис ответил на вопросы фанатов в ходе Comic Con Astana

The main event of the fourth day of the festival was a meeting with fans of the Hollywood star, famous British actor and director, innovator of motion capture technology Andy Serkis. It also became known that during the first three days of the festival, about 43.5 thousand people visited the festival.

Главным событием четвертого дня фестиваля стала встреча с фанатами звезды Голливуда, знаменитого британского актера и режиссера, новатора технологии захвата движения (motion capture) Энди Серкиса. Также стало известно, что за первые три дня фестиваль посетили порядка 43,5 тыс.человек.

Andy Serkis won worldwide fame thanks to his roles as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Caesar in Planet of the Apes, Supreme Leader Snoke in Star Wars, and Alfred in Batman (2022).

Энди Серкис завоевал всемирную славу благодаря ролям Голлума в трилогии «Властелин колец», Цезаря в «Планете обезьян», Верховного лидера Сноука в «Звездных войнах», а также Альфреда в фильме «Бэтмен» (2022). 

In addition, he is known for his role as King Kong in Peter Jackson's remake of the same name, Kino Loy in the Andor series, Ulysses Klaue in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - in the films Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther.

Помимо этого, он известен ролью Кинг-Конга в одноименном ремейке Питера Джексона, Кино Лоя в сериале «Андор», Улисса Кло в киновселенной Marvel — в фильмах «Мстители: Эра Альтрона» и «Чёрная Пантера».

Serkis' Q&A session began with a popular meme about Gollum with a deodorant ad. The host asked Andy in Russian: "Darling, where have you been?" Serkis answered also in Russian: "Running." The audience burst into laughter.

Q&A-сессия Серкиса началась с популярного мема о Голлуме с рекламой дезодоранта. Ведущий на русском языке спросил у Энди: «Дорогой, где ты был?». Серкис ответил тоже на русском: «Бегал». Зал взорвался смехом. 

A storm of emotions raged on the main stage of the Barys Arena throughout the Q&A session. Speaking about his first impressions, Andy Serkis noted that the visit to Astana and Kazakhstan in particular is a great honor and a great pleasure.

Буря эмоций бушевала на главной сцене «Барыс Арены» всю сессию вопросов и ответов. Говоря о первых впечатлениях, Энди Серкис отметил, что визит в Астану и в Казахстан в частности – это большая честь и огромное удовольствие. 

"I feel like a nomad myself, so I feel at home here," said Andy Serkis.

«Я сам чувствую себя номадом, поэтому я здесь ощущаю себя как дома», – сказал Энди Серкис. 

The guest spoke with admiration about Comic Con Astana-2025:

“How big it is, how well it is organized, it feels like the big geek festival Comic Con Astana has been held here for many years, and I was surprised when I found out that this convention is only the fourth. The passion that the fandom burns with, the energy that flows here - it's amazing!”

Andy Serkis told how he started working in the theater, in a team of 15 people, gradually developing in the film industry. Many years passed, many special effects and computer graphics appeared before he began working on motion capture.

Энди Серкис рассказал, как начинал работать в театре, в коллективе из 15 человек, постепенно развивался в киноиндустрии. Прошло много лет, появилось множество спецэффектов и компьютерной графики, прежде чем он начал работать над motion capture. 

Today, technology allows the director to go through different aspects of filmmaking, tell stories using all means of expression.

Сегодня технологии позволяют режиссеру проходить сквозь разные аспекты кинопроизводства, рассказывать истории, используя все средства выражения. 

The headliner of the festival shared his dream - he would like to become part of the Star Trek universe, embody a character or take part in the work of the directing team.

Хедлайнер фестиваля поделился своей мечтой – он хотел бы стать частью вселенной Star Trek, воплотить персонажа или принять участие в работе режиссерской команды. 

Of course, there were requests to say something in the voice of Gollum and Caesar. And Andy Serkis did not refuse the fans, saying the phrases with the exact sound and intonation that belong to the characters:

Конечно не обошлось без просьб сказать что-то голосом Голлума и Цезаря. И Энди Серкис не отказал фанатам, произнеся фразы именно с тем звучанием и интонацией, которые принадлежат персонажам:

"What would Smeagol say about Astana: "It's so nice here, everyone is so friendly." And Gollum would answer: "What are you talking about, they are not friendly!""

«Что сказал бы Смеагол об Астане: "Здесь так хорошо, здесь все такие дружелюбные". А Голлум бы ответил: "О чем ты говоришь, никакие они не дружелюбные!"»

Telling how Gollum's characteristic sounds and movements appeared, Andy Serkis revealed the secret that he spied and overheard them from his cat when he coughed and spat out a ball of wool.

Рассказывая о том, как появились характерные звуки и движения Голлума, Энди Серкис раскрыл секрет, что подсмотрел и подслушал их у своего кота, когда тот кашлял и выплевывал комок шерсти. 

One of the questions was about the growing influence of artificial intelligence and whether it will one day replace actors and directors in cinema.

Один из вопросов был о растущем влиянии искусственного интеллекта и о том, не заменит ли он однажды актеров и режиссеров в кино. 

"Artificial intelligence is already a given, it is not going anywhere. This genie has already flown out of the jug. It is too late to be afraid of it and try to avoid it. But AI must be in the hands of creative people - only then will it serve good. We must become caring parents for artificial intelligence, educate and train it,” the director believes.

«Искусственный интеллект – это уже данность, он никуда не уйдет. Этот джин уже вылетел из кувшина. Уже поздно его бояться и пытаться его избежать. Но ИИ должен быть в руках творческих людей - только тогда он будет служить добру. Мы должны стать заботливыми родителями для искусственного интеллекта, воспитывать его и обучать», – считает режиссер. 

This year, Comic Con Astana is being held for the first time over 5 days from July 9 to 13 at two venues: Astana Arena and Barys Arena.

В этом году Comic Con Astana впервые проходит в течение 5 дней с 9 по 13 июля на двух площадках: «Астана Арена» и «Барыс Арена».

The festival is expected to attract over 75,000 guests, including at least 10,000 foreign tourists. Over the first three days, the festival was visited by about 43.5 thousand people: 13.5 thousand on the first day, 15.5 thousand on the second, and 14.5 thousand on the third.

Ожидается, что в целом фестиваль соберет более 75 000 гостей, в числе которых не менее 10 000 иностранных туристов. За первые три дня фестиваль посетили порядка 43,5 тысячи человек: 13,5 тыс. — в первый день, 15,5 тыс. — во второй и 14,5 тыс. — в третий.

Comic Con Astana-2025 is being held with the support of the Astana Akimat and the Astana Tourism Development Center.
