L’Art du motif: Invitation à Minakani

The exhibition L’Art du motif: Invitation à Minakani, presented from March 7 to September 20, 2026, invites visitors into a poetic universe where fashion, illustration, and textile art become one language. At the heart of the exhibition is the invisible world hidden inside our wardrobes — a world filled with flowers, animals, abstract forms, and delicate characters brought to life by textile designers whose names often remain unknown to the public.

One of these artists is Frédéric Bonnin, who since 2005 has been creating vibrant compositions that bloom season after season on fabrics for fashion designers. His studio, Minakani — a Persian word meaning both “woman” and “garden” — has become a true poetic laboratory of images, where drawing transforms into emotion, movement, and color.

Одним из таких художников является Фредерик Боннен, который с 2005 года создаёт яркие композиции, расцветающие сезон за сезоном на тканях модных дизайнеров. Его студия Minakani — слово персидского происхождения, означающее одновременно «женщина» и «сад», — стала настоящей поэтической мастерской образов, где рисунок превращается в эмоцию, движение и цвет.

A master of composition, Bonnin explores the delicate tension between line, color, and space. His artistic universe is joyful, dynamic, and deeply expressive. Through preparatory sketches and textile creations, visitors discover how imagination leaves the paper to inhabit fabrics, garments, and accessories.

The exhibition unfolds within the museum spaces dedicated to textile and fashion collections, where Minakani’s designs interact with the surrounding environment like fragments of a living garden. Every motif becomes a dialogue between craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics.

The exhibition is curated by Amélie Boron, head of the Fashion Collection, and Norah Mokrani, head of the Textile Library at La Piscine – Musée d’art et d’industrie André Diligent. The scenography was created with the generous support of Tollens paints, enhancing the immersive visual atmosphere of the project.

Presented within the permanent collection spaces, the exhibition is accessible free of charge on the first Sunday of every month, offering visitors the opportunity to experience the refined artistry of textile motifs through the poetic lens of Minakani.
