For its 2023 carte blanche, Maison Ruinart has chosen Eva Jospin. There, everything starts with the carmontelle, an invention of Louis Carrogis de Carmontelle (1717-1806) from the 18th century, the century of birth of this venerable house (it will celebrate its 300th anniversary in 2029). On a roll of paper stretched between two reels, which can be backlit, the artist takes us for a walk in the Montagne de Reims, vineyards and surrounding woods (Ruinart is currently working to preserve its ecosystem by planting 14,000 trees distributed in hedges or islets) in the crayères (cellars for champagne) and finally in the city with in particular its cathedral. A journey from the basement to the sky, a journey in strata. It is found in the cardboard sculptures (masterpieces and high reliefs) of Eva Jospin.

After the Beaux Arts in Paris, where she mainly learned painting, she embarked on the realization of her forests in cardboard (her favorite material even if at the beginning she did not imagine that it would accompany her for so long). Like nature, it keeps in itself this contradiction of fragility but representing something. Moreover, in his architectures, there are always two faces: one where nature reigns intact and one modeled by the hand of man but already reinvaded by vegetation as in the follies where romantic ruins arose here and there. Everything starts from nature to better return to it.

After her stay at the Villa Medici in Rome where Eva Jospin studied ink drawing and tapestry, she diversified her work using new materials such as linen, copper or bronze threads which she incorporated into her sculptures of boxes or when she does her embroideries.

The adventure with Maison Ruinart would not have been perfect without the creation of a special box hiding a Jéroboam blanc de blancs (a blend of 25 to 30 very carefully selected crus of Chardonnay) in the middle of a sculpture of the chalk pits made by the artist. Box in 25 copies and numbered.
