Interview: Yerzhan Kulibayev

«Новый сезон. Новый солист»

The best chamber orchestra of Kazakhstan Almaty Symphony Orchestra began working with a new guest soloist and opened the music season with the program «New season. New soloist»  Yerzhan Kulibayev, a new musician, professor at the «Katarina Gurska High School of music» in Madrid, spoke about one of the most anticipated events of high music lovers:

Лучший камерный оркестр Казахстана Almaty Symphony Orchestra начал работу с новым приглашенным солистом и открыл музыкальный сезон программой «Новый сезон. Новый солист». Об одном из наиболее ожидаемых событий любителей высокой музыки, рассказал новый музыкант, профессор «Katarina Gurska High School of music» в Мадриде Ержан Кулибаев:

«We performed the program «The Four Seasons» by Antonio Vivaldi and «The Four Seasons in Buenos Aires» by Astor Piazzolla. I have already performed this program many times and recently performed with it in Spain and Argentina, but I have never been to Almaty with it and therefore chose this repertoire».

«Мы исполнили программу «Времена года» Антонио Вивальди и «Времена года в Буэнос-Айресе» Астора Пьяццолы. Я уже много раз исполнял эту программу и недавно выступал с ней в Испании и Аргентине, но еще ни разу не был с ней в Алматы и поэтому выбрал именно этот репертуар».

- In Almaty, a rather sophisticated audience, there was no fear?

«This program will always be very popular with the public. When I first heard her, it made a big impression on me. The juxtaposition of the works of Vivaldi and Piazzolla creates an incredible contrast, in which there is a great artistic effect. In Almaty, many connoisseurs of the classics, judging by the applause, they were satisfied».

- В Алматы довольно искушенная публика, не было страха?

«Эта программа всегда будет пользоваться большим успехом у публики. Когда я впервые ее услышал, на меня это произвело большое впечатление. Сопоставление произведений Вивальди и Пьяццолы создает невероятный контраст, в котором и заключается большой художественный эффект. В Алматы много ценителей классики, судя по аплодисментам, они остались довольны».

- What are your feelings from working with Almaty Symphony Orchestra?

«These are great musicians; I had the feeling that this was not the first time we were on stage together. I am grateful that I was invited and I will gladly accept the invitation again».

- Каковы ваши ощущения от работы с Almaty Symphony Orchestra?

«Это великолепные музыканты, у меня было ощущение, что мы уже не первый раз на сцене вместе. Я благодарен, что меня пригласили и с радостью приму приглашение вновь».

- Do you already have joint plans?

«I don’t like to talk about plans, but as soon as we are ready, we will immediately inform about this. After all, musicians play for this purpose so that listeners come to their concerts».

- У вас уже есть совместные планы?

«Я не люблю говорить о планах, но как только мы будем готовы, сразу сообщим об этом. Ведь музыканты для того и играют, чтоб слушатели приходили на их концерты».

However, judging by the full house and long applause, the audience’s expectations were justified. Now Almaty Symphony Orchestra is preparing new concerts, including New Year's performances.

Впрочем, ожидания публики, судя по аншлагу и долгим аплодисментам оправдались. Теперь Almaty Symphony Orchestra готовит новые концерты, в числе которых и новогодние выступления.
