The celebratory event, titled “Teacher. Stage. Destiny,” took place at the Almaty Choreographic School named after A. Seleznev and marked the 85th anniversaries of two outstanding figures of Kazakhstan’s choreographic art — Eduard Malbekov and Tamara Malbekova. Both honorees are graduates of the Almaty Choreographic School, and their professional lives have been inseparably connected with the institution for decades — from their formative years as students and performers to their extensive pedagogical and leadership careers. It was here that they grew as artists and matured as mentors and architects of ballet education.

В Алматинском хореографическом училище имени А. Селезнёва прошёл торжественный вечер «Педагог. Сцена. Судьба», посвящённый 85-летию выдающихся деятелей хореографического искусства Казахстана — Эдуарда Джабашевича и Тамары Закировны Мальбековых. Оба юбиляра являются выпускниками училища, а их профессиональный путь на протяжении десятилетий связан с этим учебным заведением — от обучения и сценической практики до педагогической и руководящей деятельности. Здесь они выросли как артисты и сформировались как наставники.

Eduard Dzhabashevich Malbekov is a Merited Artist of the Kazakh SSR, a recipient of the Order of the Badge of Honor, and for many years a leading soloist of the Abai Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre. As an educator and mentor to several generations of dancers, he later headed the Almaty Choreographic School and served as its artistic director, making a profound contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s professional ballet education system and the formation of its national performing school.

Эдуард Джабашевич Мальбеков — заслуженный артист Казахской ССР, кавалер ордена «Знак Почёта», в разные годы ведущий солист Казахского национального театра оперы и балета имени Абая. Он воспитал несколько поколений артистов, возглавлял училище, работал художественным руководителем и внёс значительный вклад в развитие профессионального балетного образования страны.

Tamara Zakirovna Malbekova is a Merited Cultural Figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a ballet artist, teacher, and mentor who devoted many years to the school as a faculty member and head of professional practice. Today, her students perform in leading theaters across Kazakhstan and abroad, continuing the academic traditions of the national stage.

Тамара Закировна Мальбекова — заслуженный деятель культуры Республики Казахстан, артистка балета, педагог и наставник. На протяжении многих лет она преподавала в училище и возглавляла производственную практику. Её ученики сегодня работают в ведущих театрах Казахстана и за рубежом, продолжая академические традиции отечественной сцены.

The evening brought together representatives of the professional choreographic community, directors of artistic companies, teachers, performers, alumni, and current students. According to the school’s director, Merited Cultural Figure of Kazakhstan Aya Kalieva, the event became a meaningful meeting of generations — a conversation about the school, the profession, devotion to art, and a life dedicated to ballet. From the very first moments, the hall was filled with warmth, respect, and sincere admiration for the honorees’ remarkable journey.

В мероприятии приняли участие представители профессионального хореографического сообщества, руководители творческих коллективов, педагоги, артисты, выпускники и студенты училища. Директор училища, заслуженный деятель РК Ая Калиева отметила, что этот вечер стал встречей поколений — разговором о школе, профессии, любви к искусству и судьбе, связанной со служением балету. С первых минут в зале ощущались внимание, искренний интерес и тёплая атмосфера уважения.

A congratulatory address on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan was delivered from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva, highlighting the couple’s immense contribution to shaping the national ballet school, advancing professional education, and training highly qualified specialists.

В адрес юбиляров было зачитано поздравление от имени Правительства Республики Казахстан — заместителя Премьер-Министра, министра культуры и информации Аиды Балаевой, в котором были отмечены их заслуги в формировании национальной школы балета и развитии профессионального образования.

Congratulatory messages were also received from Astana Opera, Astana Ballet, the Abai Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre, the State Dance Ensemble of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Saltanat,” the State Folk Dance Ensemble “Altynai,” the Contemporary Dance Theatre “Samruk,” and the State Academic Dance Theatre, as well as colleagues and former students from across the country.

A special highlight of the evening was a master class conducted by Eduard Malbekov for second- and third-year students. During the session, he demonstrated the principles of the academic school, methodological precision, and refined attention to musicality and movement culture. The class was supported by assistant Aliya Sapugova and accompanist Togzhan Karmenova, ensuring cohesion and a disciplined artistic rhythm.

Особое место в программе занял мастер-класс Эдуарда Джабашевича для студентов 2–3 курсов, в ходе которого были продемонстрированы принципы академической школы, методическая точность и внимание к музыкальности. В работе класса помогали ассистент Алия Сапугова и концертмейстер Тогжан Карменова.

The gala evening concluded with a concert program featuring students of the school, soloists of the Abai Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre, and artists of the Contemporary Dance Theatre “Samruk.”

Торжественный вечер завершился концертной программой с участием воспитанников училища, солистов театра имени Абая и коллектива театра «Самрук».
