Maurizio Galante & Tal Lancman: Haute Couture, Design, Art

From June 13, 2026 to January 3, 2027, the Lace and Fashion Museum together with the Museum of Fine Arts in Calais will present the exhibition Maurizio Galante & Tal Lancman: Haute Couture, Design, Art. Exceptionally staged across two different locations, the project reveals the rich and multidimensional universe created by two visionary designers who continuously explore artistic disciplines with curiosity, sophistication, and playful refinement.

The exhibition brings together the Haute Couture creations designed by Maurizio Galante since the 1990s alongside the art and design objects developed together with Tal Lancman since 2003. Their works create a captivating world where textures, forms, and materials awaken the senses and evoke powerful emotions.

The spirit of Haute Couture permeates the exhibition through an uncompromising pursuit of excellence and craftsmanship. Sewing, weaving, and embroidery transcend traditional textile practices as feathers, pearls, ceramics, stitched straw, lace, textured silk, metal, glass, and leather are transformed into vibrant sculptural forms full of movement and life.

Maurizio Galante first studied architecture before turning to fashion at the Academy of Fashion and Costume in Rome. In 1996 he moved to Paris and founded his own fashion house, later becoming an official member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in 2008. His work has long been celebrated for balancing refinement and restraint, poetry and precision, tradition and innovation.

In 2008, he was named Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture.

Trend forecaster and designer Tal Lancman spent seventeen years as editor of View Textile, one of the leading international publications dedicated to color, textile, fashion, decoration, and marketing trends. Through projects such as Interware and The Art of Living, he developed a transversal creative philosophy connecting design, fashion, architecture, and visual arts.

In 2025, he was also named Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture.

Since 2003, Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman have worked in creative partnership, presenting exhibitions and installations in museums across France, Italy, Luxembourg, Israel, and the United States. Their projects are designed to awaken emotion while transforming traditional craftsmanship into elegant, contemporary, and often unexpected forms.
