This inexhaustible source of inspiration has not been overlooked by one of the most vibrant realms of contemporary creation—fashion. More and more, studies and monographs dedicated to the great names of fashion trace aesthetic genealogies, placing these figures within a historical and artistic perspective. The rhythm is not only defined by radical breaks or seasonal changes but also by echoes and recurring motifs. The connections between fashion and art are nearly infinite, and the history of art, as expressed by the Louvre through its vast collections and refined tastes, serves as a boundless field of influence and inspiration.

Faced with the encyclopedic vastness of the Louvre, this exhibition approaches the subject through the history of decorative styles, craftsmanship, and ornamentation, unfolding across the galleries of the Department of Decorative Arts. Textiles play a crucial role, though the focus is more on décor and tapestries rather than clothing itself.

Здесь текстиль играет важную роль, однако внимание сосредоточено скорее на декоре и гобеленах, чем на самой одежде.

Across nearly 9,000 square meters, the exhibition showcases 65 contemporary silhouettes accompanied by 30 accessories, creating a unique, historical, and poetic dialogue with masterpieces from the Department of Decorative Arts, spanning from Byzantium to the Second Empire. Exceptional loans from some of the most emblematic fashion houses, both historical and modern, from Paris and beyond, enrich this display.

На площади почти 9 000 квадратных метров выставка представляет 65 современных силуэтов, дополненных 30 аксессуарами, вступающих в уникальный, исторический и поэтический диалог с шедеврами Департамента декоративного искусства, охватывающими период от Византии до Второй империи. This exhibition does not merely scatter fashion pieces throughout the Department of Decorative Arts; rather, it seeks to highlight meaningful connections. The department's collections have often been shaped by the generosity of fashion figures, from Jacques Doucet to Madame Carven. In the grand narrative of art and fashion history, these affinities are numerous, sharing common methods, an understanding of ancient techniques, visual culture, and a subtle play of references—from the museum's catalogues to fashion mood boards. It offers a fresh way of viewing objets d’art through the eyes of contemporary designers.
