Dubai's sporting calendar will feature major international tournaments, mass races, and spectacular competitions. Key events include the 25th anniversary of the Dubai Marathon and the 30th edition of the Dubai World Cup. The year's cultural agenda will be complemented by Art Dubai, one of the region's leading fairs, Quoz Arts Fest, Dubai Fashion Week (DFW), and a number of other significant events.

In 2026, Dubai plans to launch all-electric air taxis powered by eVTOL aircraft from Joby Aviation. The project is being implemented as part of a six-year partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority. Air taxis, designed for a pilot and four passengers and capable of reaching speeds of up to 320 km/h, will connect key points of the city: Dubai International Airport, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and Downtown Dubai.

New Hotel Openings

In 2026, Dubai will unveil a number of landmark hotel projects. New hotels will open on Palm Jumeirah, in Downtown Dubai, and on The World Islands.

In 2026, Six Senses The Palm, Dubai, the first Six Senses brand project in the emirate, will open on Palm Jumeirah. The resort will be located on the western crescent of the island and will offer 61 rooms and 162 residences. Facilities will include the signature Six Senses spa, a social club, restaurants, a library, and swimming pools.

The Meydan Hotel will open its doors early this year after a major renovation. Featuring spacious terraces and panoramic views of the Meydan Racecourse, home of the legendary Dubai World Cup, the hotel will also feature padel and tennis courts, a nine-hole golf course, and lounge areas for post-game relaxation.

 The international hotel group IHG Hotels & Resorts will debut the Kimpton Dubai boutique hotel in Business Bay at 280 sq. m. The hotel is scheduled to welcome its first guests in the first quarter of 2026. In addition to 280 designer rooms, it will feature three signature restaurant concepts, a spa and fitness center, and a rooftop infinity pool.

The luxurious Gran Meliá Dubai will open on the Jumeirah coast. This five-star hotel, with two main facades, will offer guests a 140-meter private beach and panoramic views of Port de La Mer Marina. The highlight of the project will be Dubai's first beach club, Novikov Beach.

The spirit of the Italian Riviera will be brought to life on The Heart of Europe archipelago with the opening of the InterContinental Resort Portofino. This 466-room and suite Italian resort will be part of the large-scale development project The Heart of Europe and will welcome its first guests in early 2026. The Heart of Europe project will also include the opening of the Côté d’Azur Nice Hotel, a Mediterranean-style hotel that is part of the Côte d'Azur Resort cluster. It will unite four five-star boutique hotels dedicated to the iconic resorts of the South of France: Nice, Monaco, Cannes, and Saint-Tropez.

The Baccarat brand's first project in the UAE, Baccarat Hotel & Residences Dubai, will open in downtown Dubai in 2026. The two-tower complex, Le Rouge and Le Noir, features architecture that evokes the shape and cut of crystal and represents a contemporary interpretation of the heritage of the French house of Baccarat, founded in the 18th century.

In January 2026, legendary Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa will open his third restaurant in Dubai, Nobu One Za'abeel. The new project will expand the Nobu brand's presence in the city and will be located on the 24th floor of The Link atOne Za’abeel.

Early this year, London-based Barrafina will make its international debut at DIFC Gate Village. The Spanish tapas restaurant will offer classic dishes from the national cuisine, from croquettes and grilled shrimp to traditional tortillas.

In 2026, AVLU, a restaurant fusing Greek and Turkish culinary traditions, will open on Palm Jumeirah. The concept will offer a modern take on classic Aegean dishes. Also on Palm Jumeirah, restaurant brands The MAINE and Canary Club will open two new projects—The MAINE and Canary Club. Both restaurants will be located adjacent to each other in the Club Vista Mare complex.

The opening of Abra Restaurant in the Jumeirah district, located within the Etihad Museum, will emphasize local identity. The project will be led by Chef Sahar Parham Al Awadhi, winner of the World's 50 Best MENA Awards 2022. The establishment will offer a modern interpretation of traditional UAE flavors, while tapping into the region's culinary heritage.

It's worth noting that the cultural and culinary tour of Old Dubai has been named one of Lonely Planet's top global travel recommendations for 2026. The route explores the culinary diversity of the historic districts of Bur Dubai and Deira and is included in the publication's selection of 50 key travel recommendations for the coming year.

Entertainment and Attractions

The Lost Chambers Aquarium at Atlantis, The Palm has undergone a major renovation and is now known as The Lost World Aquarium. The space includes 14 themed rooms displaying over 65,000 marine animals. The exhibits are complemented by LED screens, projection installations, and immersive sound. Daily mermaid shows are held in the Ambassador Lagoon.

The project introduces guests to the brand's environmental initiatives—from biodiversity conservation and food security to marine protection—through exhibits featuring beehives, a hydroponic farm, and coral and sea turtle restoration programs.

The event, co-organized with the Arab Fashion Council, continues to cement Dubai's status as a key global fashion hub, bringing together leading designers, models, and industry professionals from around the world.

The anniversary fair will be held from April 17 to 19 at Madinat Jumeirah. Under the theme "Future, Past, Present," Art Dubai will present over 100 contemporary, modern, and digital art projects from over 35 countries, once again highlighting Dubai's role as a leading center of the global art scene.

In 2026, Dubai's sports calendar will feature major international tournaments, mass races, and spectacular competitions, taking place both in modern urban arenas and in the emirate's unique natural locations.

The running calendar will open with the Dubai Marathon, which will take place on February 1, 2026, celebrating its 25th anniversary. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in the classic 42.195 km distance, 10 km races, and a 4 km fun start. On February 8, 2026, the Burj2Burj Half Marathon will take place—a 21.1 km route from Burj Khalifa to Jumeirah Burj Al Arab with panoramic views, live music, and spectator support.

This winter, the city will host a series of prestigious golf tournaments. From January 15 to 18, Dubai Creek Resort will host the Dubai Invitational, a DP World Tour event for which five-time Grand Slam champion Rory McIlroy has confirmed his participation. From January 22 to 25, the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, a key Rolex Series tournament on the DP World Tour, will be held on the Majlis Championship Course at Emirates Golf Club.

On January 25, 2026, Dubai will host L’Etape Dubai by Tour de France, a mass cycling race on closed urban roads with courses for professionals, amateurs, and families. The Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge will continue the cycling program. It will take place on February 15, 2026, at Expo City Dubai and will serve as a qualifying round for the 2026 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. Children's and family races will take place the day before, and a training race will take place at the Al Qudra Cycle Track in early January.

On March 28, 2026, the Dubai World Cup will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its inaugural race in 1996. The anniversary competition will be held at Meydan Racecourse and will feature nine races, culminating in the 2,000-meter main event with a prize fund of US$12 million. Tickets start at AED 40.

The region's traditions are also represented in the Dubai desert, where the traditional camel racing season continues at the Al Marmoom Camel Race Track. The modern competition format combines historical heritage with technology: robot jockeys control the races, and coaches accompany the participants in SUVs. The season runs until April and typically takes place on weekend mornings.

The club's international roster reflects the city's multicultural character.
