Institution by Galib Gassanoff Presented Collection “Borchaly” at Milan Fashion Week

On February 27 at 18:00, during Milan Fashion Week, Georgian-Azerbaijani designer Galib Gassanoff unveiled his new Fall/Winter 2026 collection for Institution by Galib Gassanoff. Titled “Borchaly,” the collection became a powerful reflection of heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary identity, presented through the designer’s distinctive avant-garde language.

27 февраля в 18:00 в рамках Milan Fashion Week грузино-азербайджанский дизайнер Galib Gassanoff представил новую коллекцию Fall/Winter 2026 своего бренда Institution by Galib Gassanoff. Коллекция под названием «Borchaly» стала выразительным отражением наследия, ремесленных традиций и современной идентичности, воплощённых через узнаваемый авангардный язык дизайнера.

Ahead of the show, the fashion industry was already closely watching Gassanoff following the announcement that Institution by Galib Gassanoff had become a semi-finalist of the prestigious 2026 LVMH Prize. For many emerging designers, such recognition often marks the beginning of rapid global expansion. However, Gassanoff’s ambitions remain deeply personal and intentionally focused. Rather than building a massive luxury empire, the designer aims to create a thoughtful and sustainable business that supports the artisans, techniques, and communities that shaped his upbringing.

The collection itself embodied this philosophy through monumental silhouettes and tactile richness. Voluminous shearling coats, feather-light leather pieces, yak wool garments, and intricately woven carpets transformed the runway into a dialogue between fashion and cultural memory. Some garments were so dramatically oversized that they required two people to fully reveal their sculptural construction and proportions.

“Borchaly” drew inspiration from the historical and cultural region shared between Georgia and Azerbaijan, reflecting themes of identity, migration, craftsmanship, and belonging. Through experimental tailoring and artisanal techniques, Gassanoff explored how tradition can exist within the language of modern luxury without losing its authenticity.

Every texture, movement, and silhouette carried a sense of narrative, transforming the runway into a living installation rather than a conventional fashion show. The collection confirmed Galib Gassanoff as one of the most compelling new voices emerging from the region onto the international fashion stage.
