We recently visited The Green Planet, a breathtaking four-story bio-dome located in City Walk. This unique attraction recreates the ecosystem of a tropical rainforest, housing more than 3,000 species of plants and animals. At the heart of the dome stands a magnificent 25-meter-high artificial tree — an architectural marvel that beautifully merges nature with technology.

One of the highlights is the Rainbow River Aquarium, home to over 2,000 African cichlids. Guests can feed the fish from above, or for those seeking something extraordinary, even dive in to swim alongside them for an additional fee.

When we first visited The Green Planet back in 2018, we were amazed by its rainforest dome and immersive atmosphere. Now, returning in 2025, we can’t help but notice how much has changed — not just in its exhibits, but in its vision and global recognition.

In 2022, The Green Planet launched a remarkable animal exchange program with Dubai Safari Park. The first new residents were red-handed tamarins — tiny yet captivating monkeys. This collaboration improved animal welfare, strengthened conservation efforts, and created a living bridge between two of Dubai’s major attractions.

In 2023, The Green Planet achieved a significant milestone by becoming a member of EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquaria). This recognition affirmed its commitment to the highest standards of animal care and participation in global breeding and research programs for endangered species.

That same year, another major change arrived — the opening of Nature Park, an outdoor extension featuring wooden trails, botanical gardens, and family-friendly activities. This expansion allowed visitors to not only experience the rainforest indoors but also connect with nature under the open sky.

In November 2024, The Green Planet welcomed over 70 new bird species, including the dazzling Green Magpie, Turaco, and Purple Starling. Alongside them came dwarf crocodiles, rare and fascinating residents that enriched the biodiversity of the dome.

В ноябре 2024 года Green Planet пополнился более чем 70 видами птиц, среди которых ослепительные Green Magpie, Turaco и Purple Starling. Вместе с ними появились и карликовые крокодилы — редкие и удивительные обитатели, расширившие биоразнообразие купола.

In June 2025, The Green Planet celebrated World Environment Day with a special exhibition of eco-art created by children from Odyssey Nursery. Their colorful, thought-provoking installations highlighted environmental issues and brought youthful creativity directly into the rainforest dome.

Finally, starting in July 2025, The Green Planet introduced a reimagined Summer Camp for kids aged 5–12. With weekly themes like Rainforest Rangers, Animal Adventures, Eco-Heroes, and Jungle Scientists, this program combines fun with STEM learning and hands-on exploration.

Sea Beyond на Конференции ООН по океану 2025 года

At the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), held from June 9 to 13 in Nice, Prada Group and UNESCO announced the launch of the SEA BEYOND – Multi-Partner Trust Fund for Connecting People and Ocean. Starting with a contribution of €2 million by PRADA, the Fund will mobilize financial resources from a variety of partners to restore the relationship between humankind and the ocean. 

На Конференции ООН по океану 2025 года (UNOC3), которая прошла с 9 по 13 июня в Ницце, Prada Group и ЮНЕСКО объявили о запуске SEA BEYOND — многостороннего целевого фонда для объединения людей и океана. Начиная с взноса PRADA в размере 2 млн евро, Фонд будет мобилизовать финансовые ресурсы от различных партнеров для восстановления отношений между человечеством и океаном. 

In addition, on the closing day of the Conference, the UNESCO pavilion “Beyond Borders: Ocean Futures” hosted SEA BEYOND Day, with a series of public debates, talks and workshops to share the values of the project.

FACE OF KAZAKHSTAN: путь на международную сцену начался среди пионов

On May 31, in the heart of nature - on a picturesque farm, drowning in blooming peonies, one of the most inspiring stages of the national modeling project took place: the qualifying final of FACE OF CENTRAL KAZAKHSTAN. Among the aroma of flowers, soft light and pure energy of the earth, dozens of young men and women - both beginners and already active models took to the podium to take an important step towards their dream.

31 мая, в самом сердце природы — на живописной ферме, утопающей в цветущих пионах, прошёл один из самых вдохновляющих этапов национального модельного проекта: отборочный финал FACE OF CENTRAL KAZAKHSTAN. Среди аромата цветов, мягкого света и чистой энергии земли десятки юношей и девушек — как начинающие, так и уже действующие модели вышли на подиум, чтобы сделать важный шаг к своей мечте.

This was not just a show - it was a semi-final, following which the participants received a chance to represent Kazakhstan at the Asia Model Festival in Seoul - one of the largest and most prestigious fashion festivals in Asia. The project, which has already had 19 seasons, brings together the best young models of the continent and opens the way for them to an international career.

Participation in the project is a chance that has stood the test of time. Back in 2016, Kazakhstani model Aigerim Dauletbekova was honored to become the face of Suwon, and Anastasia Shchekotilova from Shymkent received the title of "Best Model of Asia".

Реабилитация птиц и развитие орнитологического туризма в Казахстане

Kazakhstan is one of the key hubs of migration routes of Eurasian birds. According to the latest research data from scientists in Kazakhstan, the list of birds in Kazakhstan includes 526 species:
• 405 species of nesting birds - live in the country during the breeding season and raise offspring;
• 28 wintering species - remain in Kazakhstan during the cold season, which indicates the presence of suitable conditions for wintering;
• 43 migratory species - cross the territory of Kazakhstan during seasonal migrations, making stops for rest and feeding;
• 45 vagrant species - appear in the country irregularly, usually by accident, as a result of changing weather conditions or disruptions in migration routes;
• 5 flying species - spend the summer in Kazakhstan, not breeding here, but using the territory for rest and feeding.

Казахстан является одним из ключевых узлов миграционных маршрутов птиц Евразии. По последним исследовательским данным учёных РК, список птиц Казахстана насчитывает 526 видов:

• 405 видов гнездящихся птиц – обитают на территории страны в период размножения и выводят потомство;
• 28 зимующих видов – остаются в Казахстане в холодное время года, что говорит о наличии подходящих условий для зимовки;
• 43 пролётных вида – пересекают территорию Казахстана во время сезонных миграций, делая остановки для отдыха и питания;
• 45 залётных видов – появляются на территории страны нерегулярно, как правило, случайно, в результате изменения погодных условий или сбоев в миграционных маршрутах;
• 5 летующих видов – проводят в Казахстане летний период, не размножаясь здесь, но используя территорию для отдыха и кормления.

In recent years, experts have recorded an alarming trend: the number of wild birds is rapidly declining.

В последние годы специалисты фиксируют тревожную тенденцию: численность диких птиц стремительно сокращается.

According to ornithologists and environmental organizations, the main reasons for the decline in populations are:
• loss of natural habitat as a result of plowing, construction and industrial development of territories;
• climate change affecting usual routes and nesting conditions;
• pollution of water bodies and soils, including the use of pesticides and other chemicals;
• poaching and uncontrolled hunting of rare and protected species.
Every year, ornithologists from the Bird Conservation Union of Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity (ACBK) choose the "Bird of the Year". In 2025, the feathered symbol was the vulture.

По данным орнитологов и экологических организаций, основными причинами сокращения популяций являются:

• утрата естественной среды обитания в результате распашки земель, строительства и промышленного освоения территорий;
• климатические изменения, влияющие на привычные маршруты и условия гнездования;
• загрязнение водоёмов и почв, включая использование пестицидов и других химикатов;
• браконьерство и бесконтрольная охота на редкие и охраняемые виды.

Ежегодно орнитологи из Союза охраны птиц Казахстана и Казахстанской ассоциации сохранения биоразнообразия (АСБК) выбирают «Птицу года». В 2025 году пернатым символом стал стервятник.

Sergey Sklyarenko, Director of Science at ACBK:

"Birds are the most visible of terrestrial vertebrates and an excellent indicator of the state of the environment. Unfortunately, people do not always pay attention to them and their needs. In order to draw attention to birds, the "Bird of the Year" campaign is being held. This year, the choice fell on the Egyptian vulture, a representative of the most important but underestimated group of scavenger birds. Like many other birds, they are affected by a number of threats: reduction of suitable habitats, poaching, death on power lines and wind energy facilities. All large infrastructure and wind energy projects must undergo an environmental assessment procedure according to international standards. Unfortunately, such standards are not yet available in Kazakhstan, but their application can significantly reduce the risks for migratory birds".

«Птицы являются самыми заметными из наземных позвоночных и отличным индикатором состояния окружающей среды. К сожалению, люди не всегда обращают внимание на них и на их нужды. Для того чтобы привлечь внимание к птицам проводится компания «Птица года». В этом году выбор пал  на  стервятника – представителя важнейшей , но недооценённой группы птиц падальщиков. На них, как и на многих других птиц, влияет целый ряд угроз: сокращение пригодных мест обитания, браконьерство, гибель на линиях электропередач и объектах ветроэнергетики. Все крупные инфраструктурные и ветроэнергетические проекты должны проходить процедуру экологической оценки по международным стандартам. К сожалению, в Казахстане такие стандарты пока отсутствуют, но их применение позволяет существенно снизить риски для мигрирующих птиц».

Also in 2025, the Red Book of Kazakhstan was replenished with two bird species: the griffon vulture and the black vulture.

Ornithologists, eco-activists and birdwatchers are sounding the alarm and raising the issue of saving birds at various levels.

"Sunkar" is the only center in the country where they breed, maintain and release predators into the wild. The nursery staff conducts many different studies and studies. They have extensive experience in breeding, raising and releasing predators into the wild.

«Сункар» единственный в стране центр, где занимаются выведением, содержанием и выпуском хищников в дикую природу. Сотрудники питомника проводят много разных исследований, изучений. У них большой опыт по выведению, выращиванию и выпуску хищников в дикую природу.

Ashot Anzorov, director of the Sunkar falconry center:

“Previously, we often received injured birds, mostly those hit on the roads. Now there are fewer such cases. Of course, we treat and release birds, but the issue of rehabilitation is complex, and it is impossible to solve it with enthusiasm alone.”

«Раньше к нам часто привозили раненых птиц, в основном сбитых на дорогах. Сейчас таких случаев стало меньше. Конечно, мы лечим и выпускаем птиц, но вопрос реабилитации  сложный, и решить его только на энтузиазме невозможно».

In many countries around the world, there are no programs to help injured birds, so volunteers treat the birds themselves. Treatment is not cheaper than treating people. The course can cost 20, 50 and even 100 thousand tenge, depending on the diagnosis.

Во многих  странах мира нет никаких программ помощи пострадавшим птицам, поэтому  волонтёры лечат птиц сами. Лечение не дешевле лечения людей. За курс может быть 20, 50 и даже 100 тыс. тенге в зависимости от диагноза. 

Pavel Adzhigildyaev, organizer of the ornithological competitions “Wings of the Steppe-2025”:

“Not only the number, but also the diversity of birds is important. If in the 70s in Almaty you could meet 60 species of birds during a walk, now there are about 20. Birds play a key role in ecosystems, and the reduction in the number of species is an alarming signal."

For thirteen years, the Republican Bird Watching Festival "Wings of Alakol" has been held on the shore of Lake Alakol. It is its organizers who annually popularize the development of ecological tourism, in particular ornithological tourism. Scientists, experienced birdwatchers, nature lovers, eco-activists, musicians, and head-mate masters come to the festival.

Тринадцать лет на берегу озера Алаколь проходит республиканский фестиваль наблюдения за птицами – «Крылья Алаколя». Именно его организаторы ежегодно популяризируют развитие экологического туризма, в частности орнитологического туризма. На фестиваль съезжаются учёные, опытные бёрдвотчеры, любители природы, эко-активисты, музыканты, мастера хейд-мейта. 

You can meet about 200 species of birds on Alakol. It is there that a rare species of seagull nests - the relict seagull, which is under threat of extinction.

На Алаколе можно встретить около 200 видов птиц. Именно там гнездится редкий вид чаек – реликтовая чайка, находящийся под угрозой исчезновения.

It may seem that in Central Asia, conditions for migrating birds are more favorable than, for example, in the deserts of Africa. But there are many problems and they can only be solved by drawing public attention. Carlsberg Kazakhstan supports the Wings of Alakol festival. This is part of the company's environmental initiative aimed at preserving the unique nature of Alakol lake.

Может казаться, что в Центральной Азии условия для мигрирующих птиц благоприятнее, чем, к примеру, в пустынях Африки. Но проблем очень много и решить их можно только обратив внимание общественности. Deep in the dunes of Ras Al Khaimah

With terracotta sands, occasional wild camels, wandering donkeys, and the rare sighting of oryx, this village is a portal to a simpler, richer way of life.

Rooted in Bedouin culture dating back to 2500 BC, Bassata (literally meaning "simplicity") celebrates the elegance of a life lived under the stars. With tents woven from goat and camel hair, poetry by firelight, and heartfelt hospitality, every moment here feels timeless.

Adrenaline and awe: the desert safari
Our experience began with a thrilling dune bashing ride in powerful 4x4s, racing up and down sandy waves. The adrenaline was real, the views surreal. Every twist and turn brought laughter and gasps — the desert knows how to entertain.

A taste of Bedouin hospitality
Dinner was a feast: grilled meats, fragrant rice, fresh vegetables, and warm flatbread made before our eyes. The buffet overflowed with Middle Eastern delights, while fresh dates, Arabic sweets, and cardamom coffee reminded us of the warmth in desert tradition.

Ужин стал настоящим праздником вкуса: мясо на гриле, ароматный рис, овощи, теплый лепешечный хлеб, приготовленный прямо на глазах. А кофе с кардамоном и свежие финики завершили вечер аутентично и душевно.

Live shows under a starry sky
As night fell, the desert show began: hypnotic belly dancers, the swirling tanoura performer, and traditional Bedouin music around the fire. The rhythm, color, and emotion of it all left us speechless — this was more than a performance; it was a celebration of life.

Когда село солнце, началась шоу-программа под звездами: завораживающие танцы живота, вращающийся танцор танура, традиционная музыка. Это было больше, чем шоу — это был праздник жизни, который невозможно забыть.

Gorilla Winter Jungle 8: два дня экстрима, музыки и живых эмоций

The much-anticipated Gorilla Winter Jungle 8 sports and music festival took place on April 5–6 at the Shymbulak Mountain Resort, once again proving that extreme sports and modern music can unite, inspire, and energize people across borders.

Спортивно-музыкальный фестиваль Gorilla Winter Jungle 8, прошедший 5–6 апреля на ГК «Шымбулак», в очередной раз доказал, что экстремальный спорт и современная музыка могут вдохновлять, объединять и заряжать людей по всему миру.

This eighth season was the largest in the project’s history. Athletes from five countries – Finland, Switzerland, Poland, Russia, and Kazakhstan – competed across disciplines. For the first time, the music stage hosted a Grammy Award-winning artist: MC Flowdan from the UK.

Восьмой сезон стал самым масштабным в истории фестиваля: участие приняли спортсмены из пяти стран – Финляндии, Швейцарии, Польши, России и Казахстана. А музыкальная сцена впервые приняла обладателя премии «Грэмми» – британского исполнителя MC Flowdan.

The competitions were electric: Big Air, Jibbing, Jungle Cross, and the new Kings of the Jungle category kept spectators on edge. Yaroslav Lenchevskiy (snowboard) and Max Senkevich (ski) were crowned Kings of the Jungle, impressing judges with flawless technique and bold performance.

Зрелищные заезды в дисциплинах Big Air, Jibbing, Jungle Cross и новой категории Kings of the Jungle держали зрителей в напряжении. Победителями новой категории стали Ярослав Ленчевский (сноуборд) и Макс Сенкевич (лыжи), удивив жюри точностью и уверенностью.

"I'm thrilled to be here for the third time and finally win. I’ll definitely come back next season – it’s a world-class competition with an incredible vibe," said Yaroslav Lenchevskiy.

«Безумно рад быть здесь в третий раз и наконец-то победить. Обязательно вернусь в следующем сезоне — это соревнования мирового уровня с невероятной атмосферой», – поделился Ярослав Ленчевский.

Jibbing winners were Olesya Lomakina (ski) and Azamat Valeev (snowboard), while Jungle Cross champions included Sergey Danov and Anel Sufashova (ski), and Oleg Panin and Valeria Badenko (snowboard).

В Jibbing победили Олеся Ломакина (лыжи) и Азамат Валеев (сноуборд), в Jungle Cross сильнейшими стали Сергей Данов и Анель Суфашова (лыжи), Олег Панин и Валерия Баденко (сноуборд).

Big Air amateur champions were Martin Eunapu (ski), Daniil Klyuev (snowboard), and Olesya Lomakina again stood out among the women. Among professionals, Artem Afanasyev (ski) and Gleb Sinyakov (snowboard) took the top honors.

В Big Air среди любителей победили Мартин Эунапу (лыжи), Даниил Клюев (сноуборд), а среди женщин снова блистала Олеся Ломакина. Среди профи лидировали Артём Афанасьев (лыжи) и Глеб Синяков (сноуборд).

Headlining the festival was East London’s grime legend, MC Flowdan. Known globally for his hit "Rumble" with Skrillex & Fred Again.., he delivered an explosive live set that had the crowd jumping to the bassline. 

Хэдлайнером фестиваля стал легендарный grime-музыкант из Восточного Лондона MC Flowdan. Его хит «Rumble» с Skrillex & Fred Again.. покорил мировые чарты, а живое выступление на фестивале взорвало сцену.

Local acts brought their flavor too – from DJ sets to rap performances, including Kazakhstan’s own Dayinball. For two days, music echoed through the mountains, blending perfectly with the thrill of each stunt and spin.

Не отставали и местные артисты: диджейские сеты и живые выступления, в том числе казахстанского рэп-трио Dayinball, два дня звучали в горах, создавая идеальный саундтрек каждому прыжку и трюку.
